Yul Edochie Shares What Surprised Him Most About Politics

Nollywood actor and one-time Anambra governorship hopeful, Yul Edochie, has sparked online debate after offering a candid reflection on his experience during the 2017 election in the state.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page, the actor-turned-politician recounted how, contrary to public perception, political candidates maintained cordial relationships during the campaign season, including the then-sitting governor.
Edochie noted that while political contests often appear tense, the real conflict and bitterness mostly came from overzealous supporters, not the aspirants themselves.
“When I ran for Governor of Anambra in 2017, I noticed something,” he wrote. “All the governorship candidates were all friendly, including the sitting Governor. The few times we all met, there was always mutual respect in the air amidst jokes. Funny, na the supporters dey fight up & down.”
The post has since gone viral, triggering reactions from Nigerians who resonated with his message.
@hyundaisplash commented, “Only wise people will see sense in what you just tweeted.”
@dannyliv12 added, “Smh for the fools who kill themselves all in the name of fighting for party.”
Another user, @real_stqinless, summed it up bluntly: “Supporters way mumu.”
