Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré Reportedly Declines Burna Boy’s Offer for Free Concert

Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has reportedly turned down an offer from Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy to host a free concert in the country.
The report, which originated from a Burkina Faso-based blog, @trulilgram, claimed that Burna Boy, through his second Instagram account, had expressed interest in performing for free in the West African nation. The artist allegedly stated:
“If possible, it would be an honor for me to give the people of Burkina Faso a Free BURNA BOY Concert sometime this year, Insha Allah.”

However, according to the blog, President Traoré politely declined the proposal, emphasizing that his administration is currently focused on more pressing national priorities and cannot afford distractions at this time.
The post further suggested that supporters of the president echoed this stance, reiterating the country’s commitment to safeguarding national stability and supporting the leadership of Traoré.
“President Ibrahim Traoré said he appreciates the love but doesn’t need distractions in Burkina Faso. The people said Burna Boy should take the concert elsewhere as they remain focused on their goal to protect their president,” the blog reported.

As of now, there has been no official statement from either Burna Boy or the government of Burkina Faso to confirm or deny the report. Likewise, no major media outlets have independently verified the claims.
While the story has sparked reactions across social media, many observers are urging caution, noting that the details remain speculative without formal confirmation.
Until then, it remains unclear whether the report reflects actual communication between Burna Boy and the Burkinabè presidency or is merely a social media rumor.
