The Nigeria Police Force has announced an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit directive until August 12, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who noted that the extension was approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

According to Adejobi, the decision to extend the deadline was driven by the Police Force’s commitment to inclusive and citizen-centered policing. He added that the move reflects the authorities’ sensitivity to the concerns raised by Nigerians, particularly regarding accessibility and efficiency in the permit application process.

“These voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the statement read.

The Police noted that the additional time will be used to introduce further improvements and updates to the system, with the goal of reducing delays and eliminating unnecessary bottlenecks.

As part of ongoing reforms, both the physical and digital application systems for the Tinted Glass Permit are being enhanced. This includes strengthened verification methods and simplified procedures aimed at minimizing inconvenience for applicants.
