APC Governors Take United Stand at National Summit—Tinubu’s 2027 Path Clears Further

All 22 governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made public at the APC National Summit held Thursday at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja. Themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” the summit brought together top political figures, stakeholders, and party delegates from across the country.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), formally moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption. It was swiftly seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Vice Chairman of the PGF. The endorsement was greeted with a voice vote and standing ovation, sealing the party’s governors’ unified stance.

The gathering featured Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, current and former governors, members of the National Assembly, and APC delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

This collective endorsement solidifies Tinubu’s position within the party and follows a similar show of support from the party’s Northwest caucus earlier in the week. While the 2027 elections are still years away, the move signals an early consolidation of support around the President’s potential re-election bid.
