“Are You Mad?” – Oyemykke Responds to Critics Over Viral Comment

UK-based Nigerian businessman and social media personality, Oyemykke, has fired back at critics who dragged him online after he openly admitted that he doesn’t change his boxers every day.

The drama began when Oyemykke posted a video appealing to men to take their personal hygiene more seriously. In the clip, he acknowledged messages from several women who urged him to speak to men about changing their boxers more frequently, claiming that some men wear the same underwear for up to three days—despite the unpleasant smell that comes with it.

Surprisingly, rather than toe the expected line, Oyemykke confessed that he himself doesn’t change his boxers daily. According to him, it’s simply not a realistic standard for many men. That declaration quickly set social media on fire, with many Nigerians, including photojournalist Pooja, slamming him as “unclean” and “smelly.”

In a swift response posted on Instagram, Oyemykke didn’t hold back.

“I was at my guy’s Eid event yesterday and we brought up the boxer thing… Strangely, everybody says they change their boxers every day. Nobody admitted they repeat them. They all said I’m the one that smells,” he said in a video.

Challenging his critics, Oyemykke questioned their honesty and accused them of pretending to maintain hygiene routines that he believes aren’t as common as they claim.

“One photographer, you! Are you as neat as myself? Asking ‘what kind of man doesn’t change his boxers every day?’ It’s like you are mad! Are you mad? Are you on my level when it comes to neatness?” he asked in a heated rant.

He further justified his routine by pointing out that he doesn’t go out every day, and on days when he stays home—often gaming—he may not even shower, let alone change his boxers.

“Sometimes I’m on this chair all day playing video games and forget I haven’t had my bath. Why would I be changing my boxers every day if I’m not even stepping out?” he added unapologetically.

His statement has sparked widespread reactions online, with many praising his honesty while others express concern over normalising such habits. The debate has since taken on a life of its own on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram, turning Oyemykke’s hygiene confession into a hot topic across social circles.
