CAN Bids Tearful Farewell to Rev. Azzaman, the Bold Preacher Silenced by Crash

The Christian community in northern Nigeria is reeling from the tragic death of Reverend Azzaman David, a bold and outspoken preacher who lost his life in a car crash over the weekend.
Rev. Azzaman, the presiding pastor of The King Worship Chapel and Ministry, died on Saturday while returning from a three-day crusade in Makurdi, Benue State. Though the full details of the accident are still sketchy, a family friend, Reverend Mohammed Mohammed, confirmed he died on the spot.
Known for his fearless preaching and viral Facebook live sessions, Rev. Azzaman gained popularity across Nigeria and beyond. He never shied away from fiery religious debates — whether with Muslims, atheists, or fellow Christians — earning both admiration and controversy.
His sudden death has sparked widespread grief, especially among his followers and colleagues. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), representing the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, issued a heartfelt statement mourning his loss.
“Evangelist Azzaman was not just a preacher, he was a fighter,” the CAN statement read. “He defended the Christian faith with boldness and was a loud voice for the persecuted. His death is a heavy blow to the church in northern Nigeria.”
CAN described him as a “prophetic voice, a bridge-builder, and a spiritual father to many,” adding that Kaduna State, where he was based, has lost one of its most courageous Christian figures.
Rev. Azzaman’s last live broadcast had gathered thousands of viewers, many of whom now flood his page with tributes, remembering him as a man who spoke truth without fear.
