American R&B star Chris Brown has been granted bail by a UK court in connection with a 2023 nightclub incident, but the release comes with strict conditions and a staggering £5 million in security fees.

Brown, 35, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors describe as an “unprovoked attack” on music producer Abraham Diaw, allegedly striking him with a tequila bottle at a London venue.

While the singer did not appear in person at Southwark Crown Court, Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail, setting terms that allow Brown to continue his planned international tour, including UK shows in June and July.

Bail Conditions

To secure his freedom:

  • £4 million was paid immediately to facilitate Brown’s release from prison.
  • An additional £1 million must be deposited within a week.
  • He must reside at an address known to the court and surrender his passport, except during approved tour travels.
  • Brown is barred from contacting the alleged victim, visiting the nightclub where the incident occurred, or applying for international travel documents beyond the tour.

Despite the severity of the charge, Brown has not yet entered a plea. His next court appearance, alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, 38, is scheduled for June 20.

The artist’s legal woes come amid recent headlines about his personal life. Brown made waves online earlier this week after admitting to dating multiple women, further fuelling public scrutiny.

While fans anticipate his performances, the legal storm surrounding Brown is far from over.
