Verydarkman, whose real name remains undisclosed, rose to prominence by campaigning against unregulated skincare products in Nigeria. His outspoken nature further drew public attention after he commented on high-profile issues, including the death of singer Mohbad.
Some viewers found the portrayal humorous or thought-provoking, while others called it distasteful and disrespectful.

Social media reactions have ranged from disappointment to cautious defence:
“Gentle Jack shouldn’t have made a mess of himself by taking up this role. This is so shameful to watch,” wrote @debo_A1.
@mensahtitus5 added, “Gentle Jack is a veteran in African movie space and shouldn’t have condescended so low to take such role. Quite pathetic!”
@AustineAluge1 offered a different perspective: “On a second thought, what if they got permission from Verydarkman before shooting the movie? Let’s not get angry. VDM is alive, he can actually see this and sue if it defames his character.”
@iam_harryjuana noted, “That Mohbad scene no necessary. Make una allow the boy rest in peace nau.”
