Davido Cooked Osun APC After ‘No Vacancy’ Comment Stirs Political Drama

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has weighed in after the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared that there is “no vacancy” for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the party, following a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, June 3, saw Governor Adeleke, his elder brother and businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke, and Davido meet with President Tinubu at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. Photos from the meeting quickly went viral, sparking widespread speculation about a possible political realignment.
However, the Osun APC swiftly dismissed any talk of a defection by Governor Adeleke, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on behalf of the party, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, said, “There is no vacancy in the APC. The ticket is not for sale.”
Reacting to the development, Davido left a sharp comment under a post about the “no vacancy” remark. He wrote, “No be this guy naked for bush??” — a cryptic jab that many interpreted as a sarcastic response to the opposition’s statement or an allusion to past political controversies involving key figures in the state.

In a follow-up, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described the rumours of a possible defection as unfounded. He said the visit was simply a “courtesy call” and insisted the governor remains a committed PDP member.
The incident has stirred conversations both online and offline, reflecting the tension ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. With Davido’s comment now circulating widely, the discussion around the meeting has evolved beyond politics into a full-fledged media storm, once again highlighting the powerful intersection of celebrity and politics in Nigeria.
