Doctor Dares EFCC: “Arrest Tompolo and I’ll Pay ₦1 Million”

A Nigerian medical doctor has caused a stir online after issuing an open challenge to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), daring the agency to arrest or invite former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
In a bold social media post now making rounds, the doctor promised to donate ₦1 million to the EFCC, but only if the anti-graft agency treats Tompolo the same way it handles other suspects: by arresting him, bringing him to their office, and releasing a mugshot with his alleged charges visibly displayed.
“I will personally donate 1 million naira to @officialEFCC if they successfully arrest or invite Tompolo to their office within the next 7 days and they hang his charges on his neck in a mugshot photo – as they treat for everybody else,” he wrote.

He further urged Nigerians to tag the EFCC and help amplify the challenge.
The post has sparked widespread conversation about double standards in Nigeria’s justice system, especially in the handling of high-profile or politically connected individuals.
While some Nigerians praised the doctor’s courage, others questioned whether EFCC would ever take up such a challenge, given Tompolo’s powerful influence in the Niger Delta and past controversies surrounding his name.
As of now, the EFCC has not publicly responded to the challenge.
