“Don’t Try It!” — Man Warns Peter Obi in Open Letter, Threatens to Withdraw Support Over Coalition Rumors

A passionate supporter of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has written a fiery open letter, warning him to steer clear of any political alliance that would place Atiku Abubakar or anyone else ahead of him in the 2027 presidential race.
Shared by @PureMinD__ on X (formerly Twitter), the post reads more like a heartbreak letter than a political statement. The author made it clear: If Obi accepts a vice-presidential slot or aligns with Atiku, he’s done supporting him.
“I’m writing this ahead of time to let you know, if you ever join a coalition where you’re not the presidential candidate, you’ve lost me,” he wrote, recalling the lengths he went during the 2023 elections.
He listed six personal sacrifices he made in support of Obi’s last bid:
1. Sponsored buses to mobilize youths for rallies.
2. Printed campaign materials and provided food and drinks at events.
3. Spent hundreds of thousands to calm agitators during tense moments.
4. Rescued a Labour Party agent from violent attack.
5. Promoted Obi despite tempting offers from rival parties.
6. Endured threats as a Yoruba man supporting Obi in a pro-APC community.
The man’s frustration peaked at the thought of Obi playing second fiddle to someone he said had been “chilling in the UAE since 2023.”
He ended his letter with a warning and a plea:
“More young voters will emerge by 2027, voters who couldn’t vote in 2023. If you run, we’re with you. But if you step down for someone else, you’ve lost me—and millions like me.”
As the letter went viral, social media users shared their thoughts:
@oppressed_iam: “Coalition without Obi as the figurehead is dead on arrival. We need a coalition of Nigerians against hunger and electoral fraud.”
@DonNwankwo1: “Just listen to the replies—most are Yoruba ronus. Go to hell with your support.”
@kingBuchyk: “We must not play politics with emotion. To beat Tinubu, you’ll have to go harder.”
@bankeyys: “I did the same! Already saving up to support Obi again in 2027.”
@ChumaOrji3: “I’ve been victimized for my support. I’m open to any strategy that ends bad governance—Obi or not.”
