Drama as Abroad Returnee Confronts UBA Over Unexpected Revelation

A Nigerian man who recently returned from abroad is demanding justice after claiming that N150 million mysteriously disappeared from his United Bank for Africa (UBA) account under the false pretense that he was dead.

The disturbing allegation was brought to public attention during a live video session with popular human rights activist, Gwamnishu Harrison, who has now committed to pursuing legal action on the victim’s behalf.

According to the unnamed returnee, he had been diligently saving money from abroad into his UBA account since 2020, with deposits made several times annually. However, upon his return to Nigeria in 2023, he was shocked to discover that his entire life savings had been wiped clean.

“When I came back, I went to the bank. They told me someone came and claimed I was dead… that I was buried already. And based on that, they allowed access to my account,” he said in the video, visibly distressed.

The most harrowing twist came when he arrived at the bank for clarification—only to be met by police officers reportedly stationed there to arrest him. “I only raised my voice out of shock, and the next thing, they tried to criminalize me,” he added.

The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many demanding transparency and accountability from the bank.

At the time of this report, UBA has not issued an official response to the allegations. Gwamnishu Harrison, however, confirmed that legal steps are already underway to ensure a thorough investigation and restitution.

The man’s ordeal raises serious questions about internal fraud, due diligence in verifying death claims, and the broader security of banking systems in Nigeria.
