The ancient city of Ijebu Ode came alive Friday night as Juju music legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, and Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), lit up the town at Globacom’s glamorous kickoff to the 2025 Ojude Oba celebrations.

The exclusive event, themed “Evening with Glo”, marked the 20th year of Globacom’s cultural partnership with the Ojude Oba Festival, a relationship that has elevated the festival into a world-class cultural showcase.

Held inside a packed Conference Hall, the night featured stunning performances, rich Yoruba rhythms, fine cuisine, and rib-cracking comedy from Gbenga Adeyinka, Bash, and Kiekie.

Obey’s timeless tunes echoed through the venue for over two hours as guests sang along, some moved to tears by the nostalgia. KWAM 1 followed, stirring the crowd with his iconic Fuji beats that kept everyone on their feet.

According to Globacom, the evening was its way of appreciating Ijebuland for two decades of loyalty and support.

“We brought together great sons and daughters of Ijebuland to celebrate our shared heritage,” said the telecom giant. “The ageless Obey and ever-vibrant KWAM 1 were the perfect icons to reflect the pride of our culture.”

Notable dignitaries graced the night, including the Olori of Oba Awujale, Chief Mrs. Olukemi Adetona; Coordinator of the Ojude Oba Festival Planning Committee, Professor Fassy Yusuff; and the Iyalode of Ijebuland, Chief Mrs. Bisi Osibogun.

It was not just an evening of music, it was a living celebration of culture, heritage, and unity in Ijebu land.
