FG Declares June 6 and 9 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6th and Monday, June 9th, 2025 as public holidays in honour of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, as he extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim faithful to reflect on the significance of sacrifice, obedience, and faith, as embodied by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him), whose example lies at the heart of the Eid-ul-Adha festival.
He also used the occasion to call for unity and prayer among citizens, encouraging Muslims to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
“We urge Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness and faith in their daily lives and to commit this festive period to praying for the unity and progress of our nation,” he stated.
Highlighting the ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister reassured citizens that the administration remains committed to restoring Nigeria’s position on the path of development and growth.
As Muslims prepare for the Sallah celebration, the Federal Government has called on all Nigerians to join hands with the current leadership in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
The two-day public holiday allows citizens ample time to celebrate with their families, attend religious activities, and reflect on the core values of the Eid.
