FG to Sell Emefiele’s Seized Abuja Mansions to Ordinary Nigerians — See How to Apply Online!

The Federal Government has revealed plans to sell a sprawling estate of 753 luxury housing units, once owned by former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele, to low and middle-income Nigerians.
The Abuja estate, which sits on over 150,000 square metres of land, is being touted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as its biggest single asset recovery to date. The property was officially forfeited to the government after a court ruling on December 2, 2024, and was recently handed over to the Ministry of Housing by EFCC boss, Ola Olukoyede.
Emefiele, who tried to reclaim the property in April 2025, claimed the forfeiture process was concealed from him, but the court struck out his bid.
Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa has now taken charge of the estate, which remains under construction. According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Badamasi Haiba, the homes will be inspected, assessed, and profiled before being sold via the government’s housing portal: CLICK HERE
The initiative is part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at making decent housing accessible to Nigerians across income brackets. Flexible payment plans, including mortgage, instalment, and rent-to-own options, will be available.
Haiba assured the public that the entire sale process will be digital, transparent, and free from political influence or favoritism. “With this portal, you can apply, choose your preferred home, pick your payment method, and receive an offer letter without stepping into any office,” he said.
He also noted that over 10,000 additional homes under the Renewed Hope programme are nearing completion nationwide.
