From 169 to 298: Nigerian Lawyer’s Brother Shocks JAMB with Jaw-Dropping UTME Comeback

A Nigerian lawyer, who previously gained widespread attention for publicly criticizing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over her younger brother’s UTME score drop, has now shared a remarkable update — her brother has scored an impressive 298 in the 2025 resit exam.

The lawyer, identified on social media as “@timmieexx,” had earlier questioned the credibility of JAMB’s scoring system after her brother, Babatunde Peace Ifeoluwa, received a score of 169 in the initial 2024 UTME, a significant drop from his previous year’s score of 278. The discrepancy sparked public reactions, with many users echoing similar concerns about alleged inconsistencies in JAMB’s grading system.

In a celebratory post shared on X (formerly Twitter), @timmieexx announced the triumphant outcome of her brother’s 2025 UTME resit. According to the shared result, Babatunde scored 71 in English, 80 in Mathematics, 77 in Physics, and 70 in Chemistry, bringing his aggregate to an impressive 298.

“Come and see o, come and see. Man proposes, but God did not dispose of this one. I was never in doubt,” she tweeted alongside a screenshot of the result notification from JAMB. In a follow-up tweet, she added, “I did not fight in vain. My heart is so full. Congratulations to everyone that took the exams again.”

The news has since sparked a wave of congratulatory messages online, with many Nigerians praising the young candidate’s resilience and determination. Others used the opportunity to revisit lingering concerns about UTME result integrity and JAMB’s response to complaints.

This story not only highlights a personal victory for the Babatunde family but also raises fresh conversations about examination transparency in Nigeria. While JAMB maintains its system is credible and secure, this case adds to the growing calls for more transparency and an appeal system that allows for meaningful review of disputed scores.
