Grieving Father Accuses JAMB of Withholding Daughter’s True UTME Score After Tragic Death

The father of 19-year-old Timilehin Opesusi, the young woman who tragically took her own life shortly after checking her 2025 UTME result, is calling on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to release what he insists is her real score.

In an emotional interview with Channels Television, Mr. Femi Opesusi expressed deep frustration and heartbreak, accusing JAMB of altering or concealing his daughter’s result, a move he believes triggered her death.

“She kept saying, ‘Daddy, this is not my result,’” he said, his voice heavy with grief.

Timilehin, who was staying with her elder sister in Ikorodu, Lagos, had been among the over 300,000 candidates whose exams were disrupted by technical failures across multiple centres earlier this year. Though she scored 190 in the 2024 UTME, her 2025 result came back as 146 — a figure her father says broke her spirit.

Despite his repeated reassurances that the matter could be sorted out, the teenager died by suicide just hours later.

Now, Mr. Opesusi is demanding answers.

“They have never called me, never granted me any audience. I don’t want their condolences. I don’t want money. I just want to see my daughter’s actual result,” he said firmly.

His appeal is not for justice in court or compensation, but for clarity, a final, honest acknowledgment of his daughter’s academic effort. As the public continues to react to the rising number of complaints following the 2025 UTME, Timilehin’s story casts a heartbreaking light on the human cost of institutional silence.
