Ignore the Noisemakers, You’re Doing Well – Tinubu Applauds Wike at ICC Reopening

President Bola Tinubu has heaped praise on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for the transformation of Abuja’s infrastructure, urging him to stay focused and ignore distractions from critics and “busybodies.”
Speaking on Tuesday, June 10, during the official reopening of the refurbished International Conference Centre (ICC), now renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, the president commended Wike’s leadership and work ethic.
“You represent us as a people of character, determination, and great spirit. I am pleased to see you reflect these qualities. Ignore the busybodies and bystanders; no matter what they say, keep up your excellent work,” Tinubu said.
He described Wike as a transformational figure with the foresight and resolve to deliver results.
Recalling a previous visit to the ICC during a session of the ECOWAS Parliament, Tinubu expressed his disappointment at the facility’s poor condition at the time.
“It was a very dirty, disorganised, uninhabitable environment. I turned to Wike and said, ‘This conference centre is not reflecting who we are. Have we sunk this low?’” Tinubu narrated. “He assured me the place would be transformed — and today, I am very happy.”
The event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing facelift of Nigeria’s capital, with the president reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring dignity and excellence to national landmarks.
