John Utaka Calls for Clarity After Ahmed Musa Leaves Super Eagles Camp to Get Married

Former Super Eagles striker John Utaka has weighed in on the surprising news that Ahmed Musa abruptly left the national team camp to marry his new wife.
Musa exited the team shortly after Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Ghana in the Unity Cup held in London. The news quickly spread that the veteran forward had returned to Kano to wed Asmau Moriki, his fourth wife.
Speaking on Brila FM, Utaka stressed that national team matters require proper procedures. “We don’t know what discussions took place before Musa joined camp. Representing the country is a serious responsibility — things need to be handled the right way,” he said.
Musa’s appearance against Ghana was his first for Nigeria since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, coming on as a second-half substitute in a tough match.
This latest marriage is Musa’s fourth. His first marriage to Jamila in 2013 ended in 2017 amid reports of issues related to his wish to take another wife. He then married Juliet Ejue from Cross River State, but that marriage also ended, though details remain private. In 2021, Musa married Mariam before now tying the knot with Asmau Moriki.
