Man Storms Pastor’s Office With Police Over Mistaken ₦1M Transfer: “It’s a Spiritual Matter,” Cleric Insists

An unusual scene unfolded in a Nigerian church recently when a man arrived at a pastor’s office accompanied by police officers, demanding a refund after mistakenly transferring ₦1 million instead of ₦100,000 to the church’s account.
A video of the confrontation, shared on social platform X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @chukwe, has since gone viral, sparking a wave of heated reactions online.
According to reports, the man had intended to donate ₦100,000 to the church but inadvertently transferred ten times that amount. Upon realizing the error, he contacted the pastor to request a refund of the excess ₦900,000.
To his shock, the pastor allegedly refused, claiming the transaction had become a “spiritual matter” and insisted the man take legal action if he wanted the money back.
“Go to court and collect it, this is a spiritual matter,” the pastor is heard saying in the video, unfazed by the presence of police officers.
The short clip captures the tense atmosphere inside the church office, where the man, visibly frustrated, stood his ground as officers attempted to mediate the situation.

The video has ignited widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief over the pastor’s stance and criticizing the perceived exploitation under the guise of religion.
One user, @MAKA_1NE, commented: “This just has to be content because why this so-called pastor never collect slap?”
Another, @Dapsijaiye, quipped: “Where is that brain-resetting backhand?”
@Tofunmi9Samuel added: “The guy no suppose carry police come. Just run like 5 men from street. Pastor body go calm.”
Some responses leaned toward sarcasm, with @Ace_Oparah noting: “Who hear when the pastor say ‘but pastor can I explain myself’? Baba dey call police man pastor 😂😂.”
@SylverNwarisi took a more practical tone: “People don’t know how to win battles. Simply send the man his money. Simple.”
