The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally addressed the viral video of ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, allegedly spraying bundles of naira at a public event.

Recall that Read Naija had earlier reported the viral video, which drew public outcry over perceived selective justice, especially after celebrities like Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest were swiftly prosecuted for similar acts.

Taking to its verified social media account late Sunday, the EFCC wrote:

“Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer. #EFCCNigeria”

This confirmation comes after days of silence from the agency, which had led many Nigerians to question whether Tompolo’s political connections had granted him immunity from scrutiny.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale further reinforced the agency’s stance in a brief statement to journalists, stating, “We are aware of the video. The matter is under investigation.”

The EFCC emphasized its commitment to enforcing the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, which prohibits naira abuse, and assured that all violators regardless of status would face justice.
