Afropop star and one-half of the legendary PSquare duo, Peter Okoye a.k.a Mr P, has responded to critics comparing his YouTube views to those of other artists loud and clear.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr P told his followers that he’s not in any popularity contest and that real fans matter more to him than viral numbers.

“Team P! We are not in any competition with anybody!” he wrote.
“I can easily buy 20 million views in less than 1 hour! But I rather grow organically and get real engagement and real fans.”

He made it clear that for him, it’s not about inflated views but about building lasting relationships with supporters who genuinely vibe with his music.

Mr P pointed out the numbers behind his recent single “ODO” to back his point:
“What’s the point of 2 million views with less than 2k comments and 20k likes when we are doing 1.2 million views with more than 5k comments and close to 50k likes?”

But his message didn’t go without mixed reactions. Some fans applauded his stance, while others accused him of still keeping tabs on his former groupmate’s stats.

Here’s how fans reacted:

@iamFmajor: “Loved your music but you be old taker now. No offence. Fell out of love immediately you two split up.”

@iamdavidprince: “How did you notice all those likes and comments if you’re not in competition? Are you stalking?”

@deewarn: “Odo is good music. Focus on your craft. Na only you dey look left, right, back… Face front baba.”

@Vwakpor1: “You compete pass. Oga jealousy.”
