Nigeria Under Siege: CUPP Declares Tinubu’s Rule the Darkest in History

As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks two years in office, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has described his administration as the most disastrous in Nigeria’s history since independence.

In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, CUPP’s National Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, accused the administration of exacerbating economic hardship, neglecting key public sectors, and failing to ensure national security.

“Two years ago, severe hunger came to town in Nigeria through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Governance, in its most inhumane form, ascended the throne,” Adebayo said. “Insecurity worsened, youth unemployment skyrocketed, and the number of out-of-school children rose from 20 million to nearly 40 million. Inflation has surged to over 36%.”

He also criticized what he described as the country’s near absence on the global stage, blaming inactive foreign missions on the lack of appointed ambassadors.

“Our foreign missions remain inactive due to the absence of appointed ambassadors, leaving Nigeria virtually absent on the global diplomatic stage,” he said.

On the issue of national security, Adebayo painted a bleak picture: “People in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country are being slaughtered daily by an invading army of terrorists, killer herdsmen, and kidnappers. Even Abuja, the nation’s capital, is not safe.”

The CUPP spokesperson also condemned the state of Nigeria’s public health system: “Our medical institutions have collapsed. They are worse than consulting clinics, and the common people bear the brunt. Meanwhile, the president and his cabinet continue to travel abroad for medical treatment.”

He further alleged that governance has taken a back seat to early political scheming ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Tinubu appears more focused on securing a second term than addressing the country’s deepening crisis. Sectors like health, education, and the economy have been left to deteriorate,” Adebayo said. “Nigeria’s debt profile is at a scandalous level, projected to hit ₦188 trillion by the end of 2025.”

Despite the removal of fuel subsidy on his first day in office and billions reportedly saved from it, Adebayo noted that the government continues to seek loans, worsening the country’s economic standing.

He concluded that Nigerians have lost faith in the administration and are already seeking a more credible and people-centered alternative ahead of the next general election.

“A second term would be catastrophic. Nigerians are yearning for leadership that is competent, compassionate, and patriotic enough to rescue the country from its current crisis,” he said.
