President Ruto Jokes About Brain Drain as Second Daughter Marries Nigerian
At a recent wedding, President William Ruto of Kenya made a lighthearted but pointed remark that quickly caught attention online. He joked about a surprising new trend among Kenyan women, including his own daughters, who have both married Nigerian men.
In a video that’s gone viral, Ruto playfully questioned why Kenyan men seem to be losing ground when it comes to marriage prospects. “My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and this one is now married to a Nigerian. And our guys around; I don’t know, are you slow? I don’t know,” he said.

He warned, half in jest, that if this keeps up, Kenya might face a fresh kind of brain drain, not of talent, but of its women marrying abroad. The president’s comments have sparked conversations about shifting marriage patterns and cultural connections between Kenya and Nigeria.
