REVEALED: Why Wizkid Cancelled U.S. Shows on Morayo Tour

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, has reportedly pulled out of several concerts in the United States amid an ongoing battle with grief over the loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.
The Morayo Tour, initially scheduled to span multiple U.S. cities this year, faced unexpected cancellations earlier this month, leaving fans puzzled. While no official statement was released by the artist’s team, a close friend and associate, Godson, offered insight into the situation, pleading with the public to show empathy and pray for the music star.
According to Godson, Wizkid is still deeply mourning the passing of his mother, who died on August 18, 2023. He noted that the artist has been struggling emotionally and feels unsupported, despite maintaining a composed public image.
“He’s grieving. He hasn’t healed. People forget that even celebrities are human,” Godson shared in a social media post.
Though Wizkid has kept his feelings largely private, he recently posted a short yet poignant message that resonated with fans: “I miss my Queen every day.”

Insiders say the cancellations are a reflection of Wizkid’s current emotional state, as he prioritizes healing over performing. For many fans, the revelation brings clarity, and a renewed wave of compassion for the artist known for his resilience, but also, unmistakably, for his humanity.
