See What Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye Told President Tinubu After Two Years in Office

Veteran journalist and Channels Television anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, has delivered a candid on-air message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to act swiftly and surround himself with “thinkers, doers, and patriots” if he truly intends to leave a lasting legacy.

Speaking during his flagship program on Saturday night, June 8, Okinbaloye reflected on the President’s two years in office and the growing frustration among Nigerians over the state of the nation’s economy.

“Two years are gone. Half of your constitutional mandate spent navigating the stormy waters of reforms, resistance, and rising hardship,” he said.

In his stirring editorial, Okinbaloye reminded the President of the promises made under the “Renewed Hope” agenda — promises to lift millions out of poverty, create digital jobs, and double the nation’s power output. However, he lamented that the current reality tells a different story.

“Inflation surged, food inflation went to an all-time high, transport costs were tripled, and the average Nigerian now spends more of their income just to eat — that is if they are lucky,” he said. “Petrol is hovering over N700 per litre and electricity tariffs have risen, even as supply remains erratic.”

Okinbaloye warned that although Nigerians have remained remarkably patient, resilience alone cannot be the country’s recovery plan.

“You came to office promising that the pain would be temporary, like that of childbirth, and that joy would follow. But two years in, the cries have grown louder. Many now wonder: when will the joy come?”

With just a year before the next political season begins to stir, the broadcast journalist stressed that the clock is ticking for the Tinubu administration to deliver tangible results.

“If ever there was a time to show the fruits of sacrifice, it is now. You are the President of both your lovers and your loudest critics… You now preside over a fractured but hopeful nation — good people, bad politics, and an ugly economy.”

He ended his message with a pointed call to action: “Mismanage this opportunity, sir, and we risk descending into a cycle of unrest, disillusionment, and regret. But rise to the moment, and you could become a defining leader, one whose name is etched in gold — as the man who brought Nigeria back from the brink.”

His parting advice was clear: “Mr President, please urgently surround yourself with thinkers, doers and patriots — not just loyalists. Ignore sycophants who clap in darkness while citizens cry in daylight.”
