See What Pastor Adeboye Said Would Happen If Nigerians Stopped Praying for Just One Week

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that Nigeria would descend into chaos if believers stopped praying for even just one week.
Speaking during RCCG’s monthly Thanksgiving service and special prayers for security and paramilitary officers held on Sunday, June 1, at the church’s headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, the revered cleric stressed that the nation’s fragile stability is a result of ceaseless intercession by Christians.
“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting, where is the result?’ I laugh,” Pastor Adeboye said. “If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop.”
He emphasized that spiritual intervention is what has kept Nigeria from falling apart completely, despite the economic, social, and security challenges plaguing the nation.
“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men,” he stated. “If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings.”
Preaching on the theme “Shadow of the Almighty,” Pastor Adeboye highlighted various supernatural experiences he believes show divine protection over the RCCG and its faithful. One such example was a building in the United States, house number eight on a row of 15 houses, that was the only one spared from flooding because it hosted a Redeemed Christian Church of God house fellowship.
“House after house was flooded,” he recounted. “But house number eight, the only one with a sign that read, ‘House Fellowship of RCCG holds here’ — remained untouched. That is not a coincidence — that is divine covering.”
He also referenced a fire incident at Otedola Bridge in Lagos, where nearby buildings were destroyed but an RCCG structure stood unharmed. “Buildings before and after were destroyed, but the RCCG building stood. That’s not ordinary,” he said as the church media displayed visuals from the incident.
Pastor Adeboye told the congregation not to underestimate the power of prayer, encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith.
“Your safety is in God,” he declared. “His protection may not be visible, but it is always present. Whether young or old, in peace or in crisis, the Almighty covers His own.”
Earlier during the service, Pastor Folu Adeboye led a moving prayer session for Nigeria’s leaders and security officers, praying for peace and wisdom.
“Let us ask God to have mercy on our president and give him peace, so he may find joy in his tenure,” she prayed.
The service also honoured Nigeria’s security and paramilitary officers, underlining the church’s continued dedication to national peace and divine intervention in state affairs.
