See What Tinubu Requested After Receiving Chieftaincy Title in Anambra

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu surprised attendees at a reception held in his honour on Thursday by jokingly asking Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to help him secure a plot of land for a retirement home in the state.

The lighthearted request came after Tinubu had just commissioned several key infrastructural projects, praised as legacy initiatives by the state’s leadership. Tinubu also received a traditional chieftaincy title, “Dike si Mba”, from the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, which recognizes individuals for their significant contributions to national development.

“Many of my friends are from Anambra State, and I have seen many of them today,” Tinubu said as he spoke to the crowd. “Going forward, we are not just friends. I am now a bona-fide son of the soil – one of you, your own son,” he added, which was met with cheers and applause.

He then turned to Governor Soludo and playfully said, “Maybe my friend and your governor, Charles Soludo, should find me a plot of land for my retirement home after service. You don’t have to move me from the Villa for only one week. Give me a permanent abode.”

Earlier in the day, Tinubu was conferred with the “Dike si Mba” title, meaning “Warrior from the Diaspora,” in a ceremony at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The title was presented in honour of his national achievements and was awarded by royal fathers from all 179 communities in Anambra State.

Reflecting on the moment, Tinubu shared how he was first given a title by a traditional ruler in Anambra back in 2005, and expressed deep gratitude for this new recognition. “To have all the traditional rulers of Anambra confer another title on me is not only historic but one which I will greatly treasure for the rest of my life,” he said.
