See Why Harrison Gwamnishu Walked Alone to the Delta Govt House with a Message

Former aide to the Delta State Governor and well-known rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, staged a lone protest on Wednesday, June 4, at the Delta State Government House in Asaba, calling out the rising insecurity across the state.
In a video that has since gone viral, Gwamnishu is seen confronting security personnel who denied him access to the governor’s office. Unshaken, he stood his ground, demanding attention from those in power.
Speaking after the protest, Gwamnishu said his action was prompted by what he described as the state government’s continued neglect of local security outfits. According to him, while crime and kidnappings are on the rise, community-based vigilante groups remain underfunded and unsupported.
“I just concluded a solo protest at the Delta State Government House to draw urgent attention to the growing insecurity in our communities,” he said in a statement.
“The Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, appears to be ignoring the role of our local security networks. They’re the frontline defense, but without funding or support, they’re powerless in the face of rising violence.”
Gwamnishu, who recently resigned as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, said he left the position so he could freely speak out and stand with the people.
“This is not just a protest, it’s a call to action. The government must rise to the occasion and fund our local vigilantes. Our people deserve to feel safe,” he added.

He also urged the public to speak up, calling on fellow Deltans to #FundLocalVigilante and support his movement.
The protest has sparked conversations online, with many applauding his boldness and demanding swift action from the state government.
