Seven Years of Grind Before the Spotlight: Kiekie Opens Up About Her Slow Burn to Fame

Popular skit maker and Nollywood actress Kiekie has peeled back the curtain on her rise to fame, revealing it wasn’t an overnight success, but a seven-year hustle behind the scenes.
In a candid chat on The TTM Show with host Tobi Makinde, the bubbly content creator described herself as a “late bloomer,” admitting she started making videos as far back as 2013 but didn’t catch the public’s eye until 2020.
“I call myself a late bloomer because it literally took seven years to break through,” she said. “I was creating content, funding it with side gigs, and just kept going, even when nobody was watching.”
Before becoming a social media sensation, Kiekie worked as a fashion stylist, even styling top artists like Simi. Her big break finally came in 2018 with Fashion Shock Show, her first viral series.
“The moment I hit the spotlight, everything just took off,” she recalled.
Now celebrated for her infectious energy and comedy, Kiekie’s story is a testament to persistence. “It was years of doing what I loved, even when it felt like no one cared,” she said. “But that grind? That’s what made the success sweeter.”
Her message to aspiring creators? “Keep going. Your time will come.”
