Simi Addresses Nigerians Over the One Word She Hates Hearing About Her Child

Popular Nigerian singer, Simi, has made a heartfelt plea to fans and the public to stop referring to her daughter, Adejare, as “Duduke.”

The name stuck after Simi released her hit single Duduke in 2020 while pregnant with her now 4-year-old daughter. But the singer is now drawing a line, saying the term was just a beat in the song — not her child’s name.

“People call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like,” Simi said. “It doesn’t mean anything. If it meant something beautiful, maybe… but it’s just a beat. I know it’s from a good place, and I try not to react, but it’s time we stopped.”

The mother of one added that while she appreciates the love that came with the song, it’s important to recognize that her daughter’s real name is Adejare — not the name of a melody.
