Speed Darlington Faces Probe Over Alleged Involvement With Minor

Nigerian musician Speed Darlington has been summoned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) following disturbing remarks he made during a recent Instagram Live session.
In the now-viral video, the controversial artist, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, allegedly admitted to an inappropriate encounter with a 15-year-old girl, a revelation that sparked immediate outrage across social media.
Reacting swiftly, NAPTIP issued a formal invitation asking Speed Darlington to report to its Abuja headquarters on Friday, May 30, 2025, by 9 a.m. sharp.
The agency, in a letter dated May 28, noted that the singer’s statements, if found to be true, may amount to a serious violation of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition), Enforcement and Administration Act of 2015. The situation could also fall under offenses outlined in the Cybercrime Act of 2015.
“This matter deserves thorough scrutiny,” a source at the agency said, adding that NAPTIP is treating the situation with urgency given the sensitive nature of the alleged incident.
As public reaction continues to mount, many are calling for a full investigation into the claims made by the artist, while child rights advocates stress the importance of holding public figures accountable for their words and actions.
