Speed Darlington Finally Responds to Ongoing NAPTIP Probe — See His Response

Controversial Nigerian singer and online personality, Speed Darlington, has broken his silence amid growing concerns over his failure to appear before the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for questioning.

The agency had summoned the singer over a viral video in which he seemingly made troubling remarks implying relations with a minor—an issue that sparked heavy backlash across social media platforms.

Despite being expected at NAPTIP’s Abuja office last week, Speed Darlington failed to honour the invitation, prompting the agency to reschedule the meeting for June 2, 2025.

However, in a newly released letter issued through his legal representatives, the singer addressed the matter, stating that the controversial video in question was purely for entertainment and “clout-chasing.” He categorically denied any wrongdoing or involvement in unlawful acts.

“As a law-abiding citizen and a man raised under strict moral standards, I have never engaged in any form of sexual violation,” the letter read in part.

He further expressed regret that his attempt at humour had been taken out of context, adding that he intends to cooperate fully with the authorities by appearing before them on June 26, 2025.

“For the sake of clarity, I reiterate that the said Instagram video was made for purely entertainment purposes only… Sadly, what was meant to be a joke has been blown out of proportion,” he wrote.

Speed Darlington also extended an apology to members of the public who may have been offended by the video, insisting it was never meant to suggest anything illegal or immoral.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on whether the singer will keep his word and finally meet with NAPTIP officials later this month.
