Tems to Make History as First Nigerian to Perform at FIFA Club World Cup Final Halftime Show

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, is poised to make a groundbreaking appearance as one of the headline performers at the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup Final halftime show.
FIFA officially announced on Monday, June 9, 2025, that Tems will join American rapper Doja Cat and Colombian superstar J Balvin in electrifying the audience at the final match, which will be held on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.
The highly anticipated halftime performance is being produced in collaboration with Global Citizen and curated by Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin.
Sharing her excitement, Tems said,
“We’re coming together to create a powerful moment that unites the world through football and music. It’s also a chance to support children globally through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. I can’t wait to see you all at the final!”
The 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup introduces a new format, expanding to include 32 top club teams from around the globe. The tournament kicks off on June 14 and will take place across 12 stadiums in 11 different cities across the United States.
Tems’ selection for the show is not only a proud moment for her career but also a milestone for Nigeria, as she becomes the first Nigerian artist ever to perform during a FIFA Club World Cup final. Her inclusion in this global event underscores the growing influence of African music on the world stage.
