Tinubu Deploys Special Forces to Benue, Says “Enough Is Enough” Over Killings

In response to the relentless wave of violence plaguing Benue State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate deployment of a joint security task force to the state.

The special operation involves personnel from Nigeria’s military, police, and intelligence agencies, and is aimed at halting the killings and restoring peace to communities across the troubled state. The move comes after a presidential directive mandating the full implementation of earlier security measures to address the escalating crisis.

President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the recent reports of killings as “very depressing,” emphasizing that the bloodshed must not continue.

“Enough is now enough,” the President said firmly, calling for urgent collaboration among Benue’s political leaders. “This is the time for Governor Alia to act as a statesman and immediately lead the process of dialogue and reconciliation that will bring peace to Benue.”

Tinubu also urged all stakeholders across the state to work with security operatives and set aside political differences for the sake of restoring harmony. He stressed the need for fairness, justice, and openness in resolving the crisis.

The deployment comes in the wake of national outrage over attacks in places like Yelwata and Daudu in Guma Local Government Area, which left scores dead and displaced hundreds of residents.
