VeryDarkMan Fires Back: Why Davido and Cubana Chief Priest May Cross the Line in 2027

Popular activist and social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, has finally reacted to the recent visit of music star Davido and nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
The visit, which stirred heated reactions online, saw many questioning the duo’s political alignment and intentions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Taking to his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan stated clearly that he has no issue with anyone visiting the president or even aligning with a political party of their choice. However, he drew the line at celebrities using their influence to sway public opinion in favour of political candidates.
“If you want to support Tinubu come 2027, that’s your business. If you want to support any party, that’s your business. But if you dey talk say make I set camera because of Chief Priest and Davido, I ain’t gat that time,” he said.
“Where me and them go get problem na when 2027 come and they begin campaign for anybody. They no get that right. Na there we go clash.”

VeryDarkMan’s comment has sparked divided opinions online. While some supported his call for celebrities to stay out of political endorsements, others argued that every Nigerian, including celebrities, has the right to political participation.
Here’s what netizens are saying:
@amyluv_official: “I will agree with him on this one. Even if I never agree with most of his things.”
@estianacakesandmore: “He’s right. Let the people decide. Celebrities should allow us choose for ourselves.”
@emily_emilight: “How can you ask someone not to use their platform to campaign? Like who are you?”
This is not the first time VeryDarkMan is challenging influential figures on national issues, but this one touches a nerve with the youth who still feel betrayed by celebrities’ silence or complicity during the #EndSARS movement and the 2023 elections.
