What Shehu Sani Just Said About Tinubu and EFCC Is Stirring Reactions

Former senator and civil rights activist Shehu Sani has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for what he described as an “unprecedented display of transparency” following the official handover of a 753-unit housing estate linked to embattled former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The massive estate, located in Lokogoma, Abuja, was formally transferred on Tuesday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi.

Sani, known for his consistent anti-corruption stance, commended EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede for avoiding the typical murky handling of seized assets, which in the past were often auctioned off to political cronies and proxies behind closed doors.

“The Ola Olukoyede handover of the 753 housing units seized from the ex-CBN boss to the Federal Housing Authority is one of the most unprecedented transparent processes that has happened in Nigeria’s anti-corruption history. In the past, it would just have been dubiously auctioned to proxies,” Sani tweeted.

Meanwhile, in a separate political commentary that stirred public discourse, Sani speculated on the potential fallout should the Presidential Election Tribunal rule against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While he did not issue a direct prediction, he hinted at national instability and heightened political tension as a possible consequence of such a judgment. His remarks have further fueled debates on the implications of ongoing legal battles surrounding Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
