Why BBNaija’s Vee Says You’re a Bad Friend If You Tell Your Partner Your Friends’ Secrets

Reality TV star and singer, Vee Iye, has stirred conversation online with her strong take on loyalty and boundaries in friendships.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vee declared that anyone who shares their friends’ secrets with their romantic partner is, in her words, “a bad friend.” Her comment comes in response to the common belief that people in relationships should never hide anything from their partners.
Vee wrote:
“I think people who say ‘I never hide anything from my partner’ are the worst people to confide in. And yes, you’re a bad friend if you’re telling your partner your friend’s business.”
Her post triggered mixed reactions. One user disagreed, saying total transparency is a sign of a healthy relationship and that hiding things from one’s partner is wrong.
But Vee stood her ground, stressing that loyalty in friendships should not be compromised simply for the sake of openness in a relationship. She argued that some things told in confidence—especially secrets from close friends—should remain private, no matter how close one is to their partner.
“Your relationship does not excuse you from keeping your friends’ trust. There’s a boundary, and crossing it makes you untrustworthy.”

Her bold stance has earned praise from some users who believe too many people hide behind “openness in relationships” to excuse betraying trust.
