The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has delivered a no-holds-barred order to Nigerian soldiers, instructing them to mercilessly crush terrorists and criminal elements across the country.

Speaking at the closing of the Nigerian Army’s first biannual conference for 2025 in Maiduguri, Borno State, Oluyede made it clear that there would be no room for leniency in the fight against enemies of peace. The high-level, three-day gathering brought together military leaders to fine-tune counterterrorism strategies and boost national security.

“There’s no backing down. Every officer and soldier must drive these terrorists into the ground,” he declared. “They want to destroy our peace and heritage — we won’t let them.”

The Army Chief also revealed that new combat enablers will soon be introduced into active operations nationwide to intensify firepower on the frontlines. But he stressed that beyond weaponry, the true power of the military lies in the unwavering spirit and discipline of the soldiers.

He called on senior officers to lead with purpose and instill patriotism in their subordinates, warning that the enemies the country faces are not just armed groups, but threats to Nigeria’s values and identity.

Oluyede praised the strategic insights shared during the conference, stating they exceeded expectations and would guide future military operations.

“The ideas shared during this conference have laid the groundwork for our transformation. We must now act boldly and swiftly on them,” he said.
