“You’re as Young as My First Son!” – Bode George Blasts Wike Over ‘Ungrateful’ PDP Comments

Elder statesman and former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his recent claims that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not shape his political career.

In a heated response during an interview on Arise TV, Bode George described Wike’s comments as a “disgusting abomination,” accusing him of showing shocking ingratitude to the party that brought him national recognition.

“The comment from the young man—because he is the same age as my first son—is a disgusting abomination. It is an infradignitata for me to lower myself and be responding to the comments made by him,” George said.

Wike had earlier reacted to George’s criticism of the FCTA’s sealing of PDP headquarters over unpaid ground rent by saying:

“Party cannot make you. You are the one that will make the party popular… I agree that PDP made me, but who did PDP make in Lagos since 1999?”

George didn’t hold back in his rebuttal. He questioned Wike’s understanding of politics and power, pointing out that names of individuals don’t appear on ballot papers, but party logos do.

“If you see any ballot box, did you see the names of any individuals written on the ballot papers? It’s the party that gives structure and legitimacy.”

Quoting Shakespeare’s Macbeth, George warned Wike to remember the fleeting nature of power:

“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more.”

When asked whether Wike should be expelled from the PDP, George said the party is guided by rules and no individual has such power.

“Our party is not like APC, owned by one man. PDP was founded on democratic principles.”

He ended with a message to Wike and other younger politicians:

“When young people blow their pipes, elders try to correct them. If they don’t listen—time will tell.”
